Congratulations to Bryan Smith fourth grade science teacher, Bethlehem Elementary School, Bethlehem, NH for being awarded a State of New Hampshire award for excellence in science teaching.
Many of the lessons and projects submitted in the application process were projects shared by or in collaboration with The Gulf of Maine Institute, such as the Drifter Project. The process included a video taped class, which was of a mini hydro electric project where students designed, built, tested and improved their water wheels. The activity was adapted from a tidal energy project shared by Acadia
College at a Gulf of Maine Institute conference. Bryan is now in the running for Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science teaching.
Go Bryan!
